Karuk Patterns on my Knitted Caps

For the past two years I have been perfecting my conversion of the beautiful patterns from the woven basket caps of Native Karuk Tribe of the Klamath River to my hand knitted warm caps for family gifts. Most of my patterns have come from the baskets made by family members.

I have converted the knitted version for all sizes and some with ribbed border and some with rolled border. I make most of them following the traditional colors of fibers used by the women of the tribe.

Some of my knitted caps are now being sold through the Museum store of the Karuk Tribe in Happy Camp, Ca.
